Qualities and Lessons from the Life of Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (RA)

Sayyiduna Umar Farooq (may Allah be pleased with him) was one of the beloved Companions of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), and all his actions were accepted by Allah. To the extent that when Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) initially embraced Islam, Hazrat Jibril (AS) appeared in the court of the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) and said, "O Master of the Universe, the dwellers of the heavens congratulate you on the acceptance of Islam by Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) today."

Sufis consider the qualities of Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) as a model and guiding light for themselves. Just as he wore patched, coarse clothes, abstained from worldly desires, avoided suspicious things, and displayed dignity and honor in every matter. He did not care about the censure of others after the truth became clear. He was an eraser of falsehood. He treated his own and strangers alike in terms of rights. He was strict in adopting acts of obedience and firm in avoiding forbidden things.
